My Pole in the Water

Drew took me ice fishing only after days and days of begging him. ;) This was the first chance I had to try out my new pole from Christmas and the first time I had actively participated in the fishing of ice fishing.

I got a couple good bites on my line and fought with one fish, only to have him "Houdini" on me and jump off the line at the last minute. Cause I was so popular with the fishes Drew asked me how far my line was in the water. As I pulled it up to show him it caught the eye of a beautiful trout. Apparently he followed my lure up into the hole. I looked down just in time to see him flop his body around and dive back in the water.

I didn't get any fish that day but I consider it successful. Neither of us got wet and the fish were biting enough for hours of excitement. Not to mention the scenery was amazing.

Beauty Salon Weekend

Aaron and Julie came to visit us not too long ago. It was a nice surprise and a good chance catch up. We went to the store, played games, and had a steak dinner. Julie and Anna both got makeovers.

On Sunday they came to church with us. It was good to have a crowd that day because we received a new bishopric. Thanks for coming!

Finally!

Emily and I had the opportunity of going to my best friends wedding last month. I have known Jake since the day we walked into the lunch room at Granite Park Junior High, one lanky and the other stalky. We were rejects from all other social groups so we sat at our own table and we ate lunch together everyday all through our senior year. Jake and I went through a lot together; high school football, nick names, English reports, awkward dating years, missions, Dave Burgess, Mike Zito, Granite High, my first date with Emily and much more. Seeing him get married was awesome we had a chance to meet his wife when they came up to visit family in Logan. She is very nice and suites Jake very well. We're happy for the both of them and wish them the best of luck.

Why Drew can't own a nintendo

As of Christmas Emily and I were introduced to the world of Guitar Hero. Well the rich man's version. Brad bought himself Rock Band for Christmas this year and Christmas day we rocked out. I don't remember doing anything else at Brad's that day and we really didn't need to. The game is very addicting and had Emily not had to work the next day we would have played all night long. Brad also invited us over on new years to celebrate so I invited Dave, Jake and his new wife Allison and once again the night was spent rocking out if Emily wouldn't have come down stairs and interrupted our jam session I wouldn't have realized the new year had begun. I like rock band more than guitar hero because you have the opportunity to play the other instruments and another big difference is you get to sing. Amazingly enough that is one of my favorite parts, I can't sing well but the game or the other players don't seem to mind. Josh Huff recently allowed me to borrow his PS2 and I have yet to return it. The game is so much fun and for a guy like me who always wanted to learn to play an instrument this is the next best thing.

I want a whopper and a small drink

For those of you who don't know this I was a T.A. at school in SLC that was a school for people with disabilities. I spent 2 years there and loved every minute of it. I have been a little nervous about my degree for a while and I have always wondered if I will be able to find work. I am taking a Special Education class this semester, it's a requirement for all teachers and I fell in love with it the first day. It brought back so many memories of my time spent at the School in SLC. After which I went to my ceramics class and listened to all the foul mouth people I associate with on a daily basis. And I thought to myself that this will be what I deal with for the rest of my life if I stick with ceramics. So unofficially I am changing my major to special education but I will still get a minor in art. I think they will go hand in hand. I figure this will help me interact with my younger brothers a lot more:) It doesn't mean that I will be up here for any longer than I planned I just might have to take a few summer classes. As it sits now I have almost enough for an art minor. Now I just have to do the Special Ed classes. I will always do ceramics and maybe later in life go back and get a BFA in ceramics but for now I think this is the best course for me and my family. The title is from my days at this school, we had to teach the students how to purchase food from a restaurant. We spents weeks teaching these kids a song that would help them order. And that is the first line in the song. I was so impressed when they all got up to the cashier and sun the song and paid on their own. I will never forget that day and how it helped me shape my life.

My apologies

I feel like our blog has hit a spot of Blah. We haven't posted for almost a month and I apologize. I complain about those who don't update their blogs and I have become one of them.

In an effort to make this post interesting, I will include the following: We had some leftover turkey from the holidays and Drew opted to make a delicious Chicken Jambalaya from the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook. I know several families have this cookbook and I would recommend it.
